Title: Association between Baseline Osteoarthritic Features on MR Imaging and Clinical Outcome after Genicular Artery Embolization for Knee Osteoarthritis

This is a paper written together between Erasmus University in the Netherlands and Okuno Clinic.
Erasmus University, founded in 1913, is highly regarded in the field of medical research and is ranked among the top 10 universities in Europe.

In collaboration with a team of knee joint and MRI specialists at Erasmus University, we investigated and reported on the relationship between pre-treatment MRI imaging and treatment outcomes for musculoskeletal catheterization. The study included 54 patients who had previously undergone catheterization for knee pain due to osteoarthritis at the Okuno Clinic.

We analyzed pre-treatment MRI images and looked at various factors, as well as the degree to which these patients improved with transcatheter arterial embolization.
The study reports on the imaging findings that indicate transcatheter procedure may be beneficial and the findings that indicate it is less beneficial from transcatheter embolization. The study found that people with significantly worn cartilage in the knee joint, too much fluid in the joint, or too much bone damage in the marrow were less likely to be beneficial from transcatheter procedure.
